PITCH DIFFERENT LEAF

Part reference and part lifestyle guide, never stuffy, with award-winning design and editorial, Different Leaf presents the people, products, businesses, and issues of the burgeoning cannabis industry to sophisticated consumers looking for enlightening journalism.

Our editorial is created for new/lightly experienced cannabis users 45+ seeking the best information they need to navigate the expanding legal environment. We are open to pitches for articles from 250 to 2000 words that could fit under the theme of each of our quarterly issues:

Medical Cannabis (Jan-Mar) - advances in research, compelling personal stories of medical patients.
Cannabis and Culture (Apr- June) - how legalization is impacting and shifting the broader culture. Past topics in this issue have included artists who work with cannabis to the environmental impact of cannabis cultivation.
Travel and Tourism (July-Sept) - enjoying cannabis on the road, profiles of destinations that welcome or celebrate cannabis.
Everything Edible (Oct-Dec) - our issue that looks at edible cannabis products and the innovative people behind them.  We also like to hear about events like cannabis dinners.

We understand that not every story idea neatly fits into one of our themes and regularly publish humor, personal essays, how-tos, and history. If you have a good idea that you think will wow us...try us!

We are looking for experienced writers from diverse backgrounds who can help us broaden the perspectives we publish. One of our ongoing missions is to ensure our coverage of cannabis is inclusive of diversity in the subjects we write about as well as those who create our editorial.

Our preference is to work with a writer to develop a piece for publication and do not accept completed columns or articles. Our lead time to publication is a minimum of four months.

To submit a pitch, please keep the description of your idea as concise as possible. Please provide links to examples of other writing by you. Send pitches and to editorial@differentleaf.com.

All contributors to Different Leaf are compensated; rates are negotiated when an article is assigned.
